Thought for the Day:
If we are espoused to Christ, then we earnestly endeavor to promote His interests, and advance His name in this world. When others are going to the polite and fashionable diversions of life, we will be laboring to bring honor to our Lord Jesus Christ, because we commend Him as beloved -- above all other beloved's.
If Ye Be Risen!
Colossians 3:1 -- If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Before we came to know Christ we were more or less only concerned with the physical aspect of our own lives. We made choices based on what we could get out of relationships, material gain, or what we thought would be the best for us. Our lives were totally wrapped up in self-gratification.
But Christ changed our sinful lifestyles. Now we see that this fleeting life on earth is contrast unimportant, because our real life is in Christ. We have died to this world with Him, and we have been raised with Him. Our lives are no longer ours. We belong to Christ! Now we make decisions based on the reality of our new life, not the things of this world. This is what it means to be "risen with Christ."
Run to Win
1 Timothy 6:12 -- Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Our faith is the most important race we'll ever enter. Our mission is to endure well, to stay on course and hurdle all the obstacles along the way. This means that we must be prepared -- not with new sneakers, but with the full armor of God.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This is affirmation of the power of Christ in us. We no longer function in our own might, but by the might of the Holy Spirit. We can win this race because we were called to have eternal life. Lets us never give up ... let us give it all we have!
WORKS OF POETRY
The Loveliness of Spring
Ephesians 5:2 -- And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.
Spring --- O' how beautiful and fresh,
Perfumed with the aroma of love
Bursting into fragrant budding blossoms,
Warmed with sunshine from above.
The heavens declare the time of year
They sing of harmony and of grace
They spill God's magnificent kindness
Upon my face, and upon your face.
Spring is a time of joyful beginnings
The little birds flutter to and fro
Their songs are sweeter than pure honey
They know that they know -- yes, they know --
That God brings forth life once again
And keeps the heavenly firmaments alive
With gladness, the entire world sings
For in His generous giving, all survives.
A Reminiscing Moment
Luke 10:42 -- But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
As the days in the season grow shorter
And the nights are silhouetted in the light of a glowing moon
My mind meditates upon God's precious promises
Especially the one where He says
He will come for His children one day soon.
My thoughts are many, bursting over of Him
They absorb my senses and flood my view
My heart begins to long for even a moment as rare
As the one Elijah, and Enoch once knew.
God's love is true and manifest in Christ
His warmth never ceases to sustain
His promises are ever before me this day
They are commendable, thus intensifying my pain --
For my yearning increases as time decreases
And my happiness is continually found
In hoping for that which He has promised me --
They will, I pray, ever eternity bound.
